Fangirl Social was born from determination and a need to adapt (as you can imagine, being a new events graduate against the backdrop of a global pandemic wasn't ideal). Having explored marketing as part of my degree and taken on a voluntary social media manager role during the pandemic, I knew marketing was the industry for me, but I struggled to get my foot in the door. Determined to break the vicious cycle of 'needing experience in order to gain experience', I decided I was going to create my own. I began sharing industry news, my own knowledge and experiences, and talking about marketing in the context of popular culture. This led to me taking on various small social media jobs for my first clients. Over time, this evolved from an 'as and when' thing into my side hustle as I secured my first professional marketing role.
